• Consistent Time Periods: If you’re using forward EBITDA (like next 12 months) in the denominator, try to align that with a forward EV that factors in expected changes to net debt. If that’s not feasible, be sure you note the mismatch.
• Industry Differences: A “low” EV/EBIT multiple might be perfectly normal for a commodity chemical firm but might signal a red flag for a high-growth tech company.
