One practical approach is to create a fee simulation (or “fee pro forma”) that asks: “Given a certain distribution of possible returns, how much will I pay in fees and what will my net return look like?” This is especially important in performance-based structures, where the final cost can vary wildly.
• Base Case: Assume a stable market environment with moderate outperformance. Estimate the annual fees.
