• Consumer Surplus (CS)
The demand curve intersects the price axis at P = 100 (when Q=0).
For a straight-line demand curve,
CS = ½ × (Base) × (Height).
Base = Q* = 16.
Height = difference between intercept (100) and equilibrium price (68) = 32.
So, CS = ½ × 16 × 32 = 256.
• Producer Surplus (PS)
The supply curve intersects the price axis at P = 20 (when Q=0).
PS = ½ × (Base) × (Height).
Base = Q* = 16.
Height = difference between equilibrium price (68) and intercept (20) = 48.
So, PS = ½ × 16 × 48 = 384.
Total Surplus (TS) = CS + PS = 256 + 384 = 640.
